Pike seeking reelection to Decatur City Council District 2 seat

DECATUR – Calling the next four years a “critical” time for Decatur, City Councilman Kyle Pike is seeking reelection to his District 2 seat.

The municipal election is Aug. 26.

“Serving the people of District 2 and all of Decatur has been an honor and privilege – something I am proud to have experienced, learned from, and grown through,” said Pike. “Over the past four years, we have made tremendous progress, from a record amount of street resurfacing to supporting critical pay increases for our city employees. We’ve worked with Decatur Utilities to address and eliminate sanitary sewer overflows, a major concern at the start of this term.

“We’ve continued to revitalize downtown, bringing new businesses, restaurants, a hotel, parking deck, a new farmer’s market, and we have incentivized economic investments that strengthen Decatur’s future. There is still more I would like to see completed. I believe our next four years will be as critical as any.”

During his first term, Pike helped secure investments that have spurred business growth and community development. He has been a strong advocate for infrastructure improvements, including extensive road resurfacing projects and ongoing efforts toward another bridge across the Tennessee River.

He has supported initiatives that improve city services and quality of life for Decatur residents.

“Leadership means standing firm in tough times and making the hard decisions that will benefit our community in the long run,” Pike said. “I believe Decatur is heading in the right direction. We’ve had our struggles and challenges to work through, but I am committed to ensuring our city continues to come together and move forward.”

A lifelong resident of Decatur, Pike serves on the Decatur Morgan County Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Kiwanis Club of Decatur Board of Directors.

In addition to his role on the council, he is the business development manager for Fite Building Co., a Decatur-based general contractor serving the Southeast.

Pike’s grandfather, Bill J. Dukes, served as mayor of Decatur for 18 years and in the Alabama House of Representatives for 16 years.

He is married to Patricia Woller Pike, and have two children, Riley (13) and Palmer (22 months). They are members of Decatur Methodist Church.

“I’m asking for your support to continue serving as your representative on the City Council,” Pike said. “I look forward to the opportunity to continue strengthening our community, fostering unity, and ensuring a better future for all of Decatur.

“Together, we can build on our progress and make Decatur an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
