Rep. Strong delivers Washington Update at Huntsville Madison County Chamber event

HUNTSVILLE – In front of a sold-out crowd at the Von Braun Civic Center on Monday afternoon, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong spoke about his time in Washington, D.C., focusing on his efforts to support his home district. The event was hosted by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce.

Strong (R-Monrovia) emphasized the funding he has managed to bring back to the area since first entering office.

“We’ve served over 1,500 constituents through casework and federal government agencies like the VA, returning over $18 million owed to the people of North Alabama, and we’re just getting started,” Strong said. “Since I’ve gotten to D.C., I’ve scored huge wins for North Alabama and brought hundreds of millions of dollars back home. I secured $18.5 billion in last year’s appropriations bill to improve local infrastructure and ensure our law enforcement officers are equipped to protect our communities.”

According to Strong, in the recently passed National Defense Authorization Act, he secured $500 billion for the top employer in the state.

“The Fifth District has been awarded over $159 million in federal grants, and to top it off, last year’s NDAA authorized over $500 billion for research, development, and continued improvements at North Alabama’s Redstone Arsenal,” he said.

“I truly believe that Huntsville and Alabama are the best places to live in this entire country. With the hard work of all of you, I have no doubt that our finest hours are still ahead.”

Strong was awarded the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Advocate for American Business Award at the event. After the update, he posted on social media about the success of the North Alabama community he represents.

“The local governments, businesses, and organizations in this area have certainly come together to make Huntsville and Madison County the incredible area that it is today. I am proud of the progress we have made and will continue to make. I am a firm believer that there is no better place to live and work than Huntsville and North Alabama,” he wrote.

“My mission is to be your advocate in Washington, and I am working each day to make sure my colleagues know just how critical the work done right here in North Alabama is to this nation.”
