A debate featuring six Republican candidates for governor will be taking place in Huntsville on April 26. Hosted by Focus on America, the debate will include Lindy Blanchard, Lew Burdette, Tim James, Dean Odle, Donald Trent Jones and Dave Thomas. Organizers say Dean Young has withdrawn from the debate, and incumbent Kay Ivey has declined to participate.

Alabama’s primary elections will be held on May 24. Runoff elections, if needed, will take place June 21.

The winner of the Republican primary will face one of the six Democratic candidates seeking their party’s nomination: Yolanda Rochelle Flowers, Malika Sanders Fortier, Patricia Salter Jamieson, Arthur Kennedy, Chad “Chig” Martin and Doug “New Blue” Smith.

Alabama’s general election is set for November 8, 2022.

Tuesday’s Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Debate is set to begin at 5:45 p.m. at The Event Center at Roto Rooter.

A debate featuring the six Democratic candidates for governor has not been announced.
