U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson met with defense industry leaders during a Birmingham event hosted by Alabama’s Republican congressional delegation, with Huntsville-based Radiance Technologies among the companies represented.

Radiance said members of its leadership team joined defense industry executives to hear Johnson discuss the upcoming midterm elections, congressional priorities and the House’s legislative outlook.

According to Radiance, the meeting gave its leadership a chance to hear firsthand about the policy priorities and legislative agenda expected to shape the defense industry in the months ahead.

The Birmingham fundraiser benefited Johnson’s Grow the Majority PAC, a joint fundraising committee that serves as his chief fundraising vehicle for Republican House campaigns and Republican campaign organizations supporting them.

Although the event was held in Birmingham, it included representatives from Huntsville’s defense industry, one of the nation’s largest concentrations of aerospace and defense companies. Redstone Arsenal and the surrounding defense sector remain central to Alabama’s role in national security, missile defense and federal technology work.

For Huntsville’s defense industry, meetings like this offer an opportunity to hear directly from congressional leaders whose decisions on defense policy and spending can affect future programs, research and contracts.
