Riddick recognized as South Huntsville Main Street Hero

Phil Riddick wins Main Street Hero award (South Huntsville Main Business Association contributed)

HUNTSVILLE — Madison County Commissioner Phil Riddick, who represents District 5 which includes South Huntsville Main Street, was recently presented with the Main Street Hero award.

The award recognizes a community leader, public figure or an organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the local Main Street organization program in the last year.

Riddick is a strong supporter of SHMBA has contributed to several projects in South Huntsville.

He worked to get the narrow, broken 1.5-mile multi-use concrete path running from Bailey Cove Road to the east side of Memorial Parkway, connecting it Aldridge Creek Greenway replaced with “the Big Sidewalk”. The new path makes it possible for runners and bikers to enjoy the beauty of the Tennessee River, with the finished path connecting to the Hays Farm development and the Hays Farm trails.

He was also instrumental in bringing the annual Bluegrass & BBQ Festival in Southside Park on Chaney Thompson Road in October, the new South Huntsville Public Library, and the upcoming Christmas on the River at Ditto Landing.
