HUNTSVILLE – The City of Huntsville’s Green Team is sponsoring two events Saturday, one in a historic district near downtown and another at the popular Hays Nature Preserve in Owens Cross Roads. The first offers work, the second relaxation.
The Five Points Cleanup Day is from 9-11 a.m. Participants are gathering at Lewter Park (1501 Wellman Ave.). All supplies will be provided, and all ages and experience levels welcome.

According to its historic marker, Five Points, just northeast of downtown, was Huntsville’s first subdivision created in 1892 following the addition of a streetcar line. It was annexed into the city in 1925.

Also Saturday, Yoga by the River is back in June. The free yoga class takes place from 8-9 a.m. The session is billed as a “relaxing, yet energizing hour of yoga next to the gently flowing waters of the Flint River in Hays Nature Preserve.”
Bring a yoga mat, water and towel. Signs will direct where to go once you are in Hays Nature Preserve. All experience levels are welcome.
