Runners and music to fill the streets of downtown Huntsville for Von Braun Center 5K Music Run

HUNTSVILLE – They’ll be running instead of dancing in the street Saturday morning in downtown Huntsville but there will be plenty of music.

The Von Braun Center’s 5K Music Run steps off at 8 a.m. on a live music-filled course through downtown Huntsville to the finish line at Mars Music Hall and the afterparty featuring JUICE.

The run also provides a kickoff to Huntsville Music Month and is part of the VBC’s 50th anniversary celebration.

With Brandon Elder performing at the starting line, other performers along the route include Morgan Sloan & Tunie The Tune Bus; Charles & Tanya Harris; and Josh Allison.

For the safety of runners and spectators, Monroe Street from Clinton Avenue to Williams Avenue will be closed to all traffic starting at 6:30 a.m. The race is expected to end by 9 a.m.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes and allow extra time for travel if commuting in the downtown area on race morning.

Huntsville police will be on-site to direct traffic and ensure a safe environment for participants and the community.
