ATHENS – Celebrating the importance of rural living in Limestone County, the theme for this year’s Alabama-Mississippi-Tennessee Rural Tourism Conference is “Rooted in Rural.’
The Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association announced the theme for the tri-state conference in October at the Alabama Veterans Museum.
After winning the bid to host the annual event last July, the conference planning committee has been organizing vendors, impactful speakers, outdoor tours and more for the conference attendees who will flood the area this this fall.
While it is not common to have a specific theme for each year’s conference, Athens-Limestone Tourism Association officials said they wanted to demonstrate how essential rural living and tourism are to where Athens has been, where Athens is, and where Athens is growing as a community.
According to the announcement, “Rooted in Rural” will feature as much of Athens-Limestone County’s diverse landscape as possible with hands-on experiences for attendees to hike the trails, treasure hunt in downtown businesses, tour the attractions, and taste the local cuisine.
Other agencies supporting the conference are Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce, Athens Main Street, City of Athens, Limestone County Commission, Limestone County Economic Development Association, and Greater Ardmore Chamber of Commerce.
Conference registration is open here. More details will be available on the Athens-Limestone Tourism’s Facebook page. For information, email [email protected] or call 256-232-5411.
