RUSSELLVILLE – Russellville High School has a new football coach, and he carries a last name familiar to fans of the Golden Tigers.
Dustin Goodwin, son of former Russellville head coach Doug Goodwin, replaces John Ritter. Ritter led the Golden Tigers to a 52-19 record during his tenure before accepting the same position at Decatur.
Goodwin served as an assistant under his father at Russellville from 2008-10. The past two seasons, he has served as an assistant at powerhouse Thompson and prior to that was head coach at Chelsea.
“Honestly, it feels like coming home,” Dustin Goodwin was quoted as saying in nextpresps.com. “We still have man of the relationships we were able to establish when we were here before, and we’re excited to be coming back. Russellville is a special place, and I’m ready to get to work.”
