Voters in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District will have an opportunity to hear directly from Democratic candidates ahead of the May primary during a public forum later this month.

The Jackson County Democrats will host a candidate forum April 30 at 6 p.m. at Bynum Auditorium, located inside the Page Administration Building.

The event will feature three Democratic candidates seeking the party’s nomination for the U.S. House seat: Jeremy Devito, Candice Duvieilh and Andrew Sneed.

Organizers said the forum will follow a structured question-and-answer format and is designed to give voters insight into each candidate’s experience, qualifications and positions on key issues ahead of the May 19 primary election.

“These Democratic candidates offer a diversity of backgrounds but all with an underlying commitment to making this a better place to live,” said Jackson County Democrats Executive Committee Chair Toni McGriff. “The voters in this primary have a tremendous and consequential decision to make and we believe that this forum will help them to make a more informed choice.”

The forum is open to the public, with organizers expecting attendance from across the five counties that make up the Fifth Congressional District.
