HUNTSVILLE – Senioritis season is nearly here. That condition which hits high school students on the cusp of graduation.
Many of those students have plans for their next steps. But while walking across the stage is certainly a reason to be excited, some will grab the sheepskin and head into a future of uncertainty.
Students who have not yet confirmed their post-graduation plans are encouraged to attend the Senior Sprint Career Fair on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Huntsville. Attendees should enter at the entrance across from the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.
The career fair, organized by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, is open to graduating seniors throughout Madison County. The event is intended to bridge the gap from high school to the workforce, providing graduates with a variety of career and training opportunities.
Seniors from Huntsville City Schools, Madison City Schools and Madison County Schools will attend with their respective career coaches. Also welcome to attend are seniors from private schools and homeschool programs.
Coordinators ask attendees to dress for success and bring a resume, firm handshake and plan to talk with potential employers.
According to Chamber associates, for too many students a lack of awareness prevents them from making firm decisions about their futures. The Senior Sprint Career Fair seeks to raise awareness of careers for graduating seniors across Huntsville/Madison County and propel them toward a fruitful future.
All employers who have registered are willing to train and hire high school graduates. There is also the opportunity for on-the-spot interviews.
