Sound off: Huntsville surveying teens, parents to enhance activities

HUNTSVILLE – In an effort to enhance recreational offerings tailored to interests among local young residents, Huntsville Parks & Recreation is asking teenagers and their parents/guardians for input.

With the school year ending in three months, the city has initiated a teen activity survey, Parks & Recreation is seeking insights into preferred teen activities as well as ideal days and times for participation.

James Gossett, director of the city parks and recreation, said the survey underscores a commitment to providing enriching programming for all age demographics. Each quarter,  a directory of programs, many of which are free to the community, are published by the city.

“Our goal is to offer inclusive and worthwhile programming to all age groups,” Gossett said in a news elease. “It’s vital that we provide opportunities that resonate with teenagers, especially during the summer months, to encourage meaningful social interactions beyond digital devices.”

The survey’s findings will guide the city in developing a diverse range of activities that engage teens through socialization, physical activity and personal development. By completing the survey, teens and their families contribute directly to shaping the recreational landscape of their community.

The survey, which takes only 5-10 minutes to complete, can be accessed here.
