DUBUQUE, Iowa — Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., a multi-regional lumber and building material supplier, has hired Mike Elsea for the newly created position of vice president of operations for its Southeastern locations.
In this new role, Elsea, a Huntsville resident, will be responsible for improving company operations while driving sales growth in Southeast retail lumberyard locations. Elsea starts his role within the senior leadership of Spahn & Rose this month.
“Mike brings a deep understanding of the Southeast market and a track record of excellence,” said Dave Davis, CEO of Spahn & Rose. “He’s a strong cultural fit and the right person to help us build for the future.”
Elsea has more than 25 years of experience in the lumber and building materials industry, including a long career at BMC, serving as vice president for an $800 million division of that company. After BMC was acquired by Builders FirstSource in 2021, Elsea became president & CEO of a $200 million hardlines distributor in North Alabama.
“I’m excited about working with the Spahn & Rose team,” Elsea said. “Their dedication to employees and serving their customers made it a natural fit. I look forward to growing with Spahn & Rose and continuing to build upon the legacy they have established for over 120 years.”
Elsea received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo and lives in Huntsville. He brings the experience, temperament, regional knowledge, and desire for accountability, which are all critical to our success in the Southeast.
“As we continue to grow in the Southeast, Mike’s leadership and regional insight will help ensure we support our teams and customers in the best possible way,” Davis said.
