STI Electronics in Huntsville to host advanced SMT workshop

HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville electronics manufacturer STI Electronics is hosting an “Advanced SMT Workshop, A Comprehensive Review of the SMT Electronics Assembly Process” this fall. For four days, Oct. 10-13, the workshop consists of four classes in the electronics industry.

The first class, “SMT Assembly Boot Camp,” is Oct. 10-11 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The two-day class teaches students the processes, equipment, and materials used in manufacturing electronic assemblies.

“Best Practices in SMT & Electronic Assembly” is Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class will drive awareness and present solutions to the adverse impact of non-optimal assembly practices and processes.

There are two classes Oct. 13: “SMT Assembly Troubleshooting & Process Optimization- Lessons Learned from the Trenches and a Decade of Board Talk” is 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and “How Does PCBA Cleanliness and Objective Evidence meet Section 8 of J-STD-001” is 2:30-4:30 p.m. This presentation is designed to walk students through the requirements and techniques needed to acquire objective evidence to meet Section 8.

The workshop is taught by Mark McMeen, vice president of Engineering & Manufacturing at STI Electronics; Phil Zarrow, president and principal consultant for ITM Consulting; and Jim Hall, principal consultant at ITM Consulting & Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
