Storms, heavy rains predicted tonight into Friday

HUNTSVILLE — There is a risk of severe weather tonight and possible flooding in the Tennessee Valley, the National Weather Service’s Huntsville office said.

Forecasters said the primary risk of the thunderstorms will be large hail and damaging wind. However, an isolated tornado or two are possible.

A long duration rain event is possible through Friday which could produce localized flash flooding and rises on rivers, creeks, and streams, according to the forecast.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible tonight and another round Thursday night into Friday morning along and ahead of a cold front.
