Strong delivers $6.2M for water and sewer projects in Ardmore and Triana

WASHINGTON — Reflecting on his background as a county commissioner, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong has secured more than $6.2 million in federal funding for key infrastructure projects in rural North Alabama communities.

The funding was included in the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies bill, which was signed into law this week, according to a news release from the congressman’s office.

The $6.2 million includes:

  • $5,175,000 for the Town of Ardmore to construct a groundwater treatment facility to replace the town’s existing failing wells and provide a sustainable, reliable source of drinking water

  • $1,087,500 for the Town of Triana to make critical sanitary sewer upgrades to ensure the system remains operational and able to provide uninterrupted service to residents during power outages
“Every community deserves access to safe drinking water and reliable infrastructure,” said Strong (R-Huntsville). “The Town of Ardmore has faced significant challenges with its aging wells, and this new groundwater treatment facility will provide a long-term, sustainable solution for families and businesses that rely on a clean, consistent water supply.”

Ardmore Mayor Billy Shannon said the funding is a “major victory” for his small Limestone County town.

“As our town continues to grow, our aging tanks and limited capacity have made it difficult to keep up with demand. We’ve had to rely on outside sources for water just to meet the needs of our residents,” he said. “This federal funding will finally allow us to increase Ardmore’s water capacity and provide a sustainable supply for years to come. We’re a small town and couldn’t have taken on a project of this size without help from Congressman Strong.

“This is a major victory for the citizens of Ardmore, and we’re deeply grateful for his support.”

Strong said federal investments in local infrastructure projects are critical to the long-term success and growth of rural communities across North Alabama.

“The improvements in Triana will strengthen the town’s sewer system and ensure residents continue receiving dependable service without disruption,” said Strong. “Modernizing this essential infrastructure will allow Triana to continue to grow.”

Triana Mayor Mary Caudle said Strong has a history of helping small towns and communities from his days with the Madison County Commission.

“Congressman Strong has always been a champion for Madison County and the Town of Triana. When he served as chairman of the Madison County Commission, he made it a priority to support local communities, and he’s continued that same commitment in Congress,” she said. “This much-needed funding will allow us to make critical upgrades to our wastewater system and ensure reliable service for residents even during power outages.

“It’s a major win for our town, and we’re grateful for his continued partnership and support.”

Strong said the funding is part of his ongoing effort to ensure North Alabama receives its fair share of federal investments. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, he has prioritized securing funding for projects that improve local infrastructure, strengthen public health and safety, and support rural development.

“These projects strengthen infrastructure and support rural communities,” said Strong. “The people of North Alabama deserve to get a fair share of the money they send to Washington in federal taxes, and I am proud to have championed these projects.”
