SWAC media forecast cloudy football season for Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM – Members of the media foresee much of the same during the 2024 football season for Alabama A&M with voters picking the Bulldogs to replicate last year’s fourth-place finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division.

The league announced the predicted order of finish Tuesday during media day at the Sheraton-Birmingham Hotel.

Alabama A&M, which went 5-6 overall and finished fourth in the East with a 3-5 record, received four first-place votes and 76 points in claiming the fourth spot. Alabama State, with 11 first-place votes, was chosen first with 114 points, followed by Florida A&M (104) and Jackson State (87). Bethune-Cookman (47) and Mississippi Valley State (31) rounded out the East predicted order of finish.

In the SWAC West Division, Alcorn State was chosen first, with 11 first-place votes and 112 points. Prairie View A&M was second with 104 points, followed by Grambling State (72), Southern (70), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (61) and Texas Southern (40).

Alabama A&M opens the season Aug. 31 at Auburn, with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff from Jordan-Hare Stadium and the game will be streamed on the SEC Network+. The Bulldogs’ home opener is a week later with the 14th annual Louis Crews Classic against Kentucky State.

Season ticket packages and single-game tickets are available now. Tickets can be purchased online at Hometown Tickets – Alabama A&M Athletics (aamusports.com) or at the AAMU Ticket Office on campus.
