Ten-hut! Armed Forces Celebration Week commences at The Joe

HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville-Madison County Chamber is honoring the military in the community during Armed Forces Celebration Week.

Festivities kick off Saturday night when the Huntsville City Football Club takes on Crown Legacy at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. There will be military appreciation moments throughout the game, which begins at 7 p.m.

The Armed Forces Celebration continues Monday with a Proclamation Signing Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Downtown Huntsville and concludes Saturday, June 15.

The following attractions are offering discounted or free admission for military families during Armed Forces Celebration Week:

  • U.S. Space & Rocket Center – free admission for Veterans and active duty personnel with one paid admission.
  • EarlyWorks Museums – free admission for military and/or their families.
  • Heart of the Valley YMCA – free admission to all active/retired military, with Military ID, and their immediate family members at all branches of the Y: Downtown Express YMCA and Southeast Family YMCA in Huntsville and Hogan Family YMCA in Madison.
  • Huntsville Museum of Art – discounted admission for military

Also, the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Iron Mike Golf Tournament to benefit the AUSA Scholarship Fund will be June 19 at the Links at Redstone.

    Proclamation Signing Ceremony
    Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial on Monroe Street downtown, 8 a.m.
    *In case of rain, the proclamation signing will be moved indoors to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber at 225 Church Street.
    Leaders from Huntsville, Madison, Madison County, and Redstone Arsenal will sign a proclamation and the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band, from Fort Moore, Ga., will play patriotic music.
    Concert in the Park Fireworks Show
    Huntsville Museum of Art lawn, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
    Fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
    *In case of rain, event will move to VBC South Hall, and fireworks will be cancelled
    Come enjoy a night of music and fireworks downtown. Arts Huntsville and the City of Huntsville Department of Parks & Recreation’s 2024 Military Appreciation Night Concert in the Park will feature the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) Band from Fort Moore, Ga. More information here.
  • Tuesday
    Armed Forces Celebration Luncheon
    VBC Saturn Ballroom, Noon–1:15 p.m.
    *Registration closed.
  • Wednesday
    Annual Softball Game between Team Redstone and Community Team
    Toyota Field, 6–7:30 p.m.
    Community leaders will host Redstone Arsenal leaders in this annual Community Softball Game at Toyota Field. Parking and admission are free. The first 500 people through the gates get a free hot dog. Additional concessions will be available for purchase. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch is at 6 p.m. Watch the game and enjoy a night at the ballpark.
    The company or organization with the most fans in attendance will win the Grand Slam Spirit Award. More information here.
