WASHINGTON — Army. Navy. Air Force. Merchant Marine.

For students who wish to pursue a five-star education and military career, here is the opportunity of a lifetime.

U.S. Rep. Dale W. Strong is encouraging all high school seniors interested in obtaining a congressional nomination to a U.S. service academy to apply prior to the Oct. 18 deadline.

“North Alabama is home to some of the brightest student leaders our nation has to offer,” said Strong (R-Huntsville). “It is my honor to nominate young men and women across the Tennessee Valley to our nation’s prestigious service academies.

“It takes something special to lead U.S. servicemembers in uniform, and I’m proud so many in our district are putting their names forward.”

To apply for a congressional nomination, visit here. For additional information, contact the congressman’s Huntsville district office at 256-551-0190.

After the Oct. 18 deadline, candidates will be notified of interview dates. Candidate interviews will be conducted at the district office.

Strong can nominate candidates to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
