After providing nearly 120,000 coronavirus vaccine doses, the Huntsville Hospital Community Vaccination Clinic has shut down its operations in John Hunt Park.
With the pandemic numbers dropping, the hospital’s Fever & Flu Clinic at 120 Governors is accepting vaccination appointments. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 3-5 p.m. To schedule a vaccination appointment, visit huntsvillehospital.org/covid-19-vaccination; walk-ins are accepted but must arrive by 4:40 p.m.
“This has been the most humbling, productive experience of my 20-year nursing career,” said Huntsville Hospital Community Vaccination Clinic Manager Andrea Cooper. “All of us at the clinic feel like we provided an important service that helped bring relief to the community so people could get back to some normalcy and reunite with their families.”
The clinic opened at John Hunt Park on Jan. 18, 2021. Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine had just been approved for emergency use, and the clinic was one of the first places in North Alabama to have it.
During the week of Feb 8-12, 2021, clinic staff administered 9,135 vaccine doses – an average of 1,827 per day. The clinic recently ended its run at John Hunt Park with a staggering 118,600 doses administered in just over a year’s time.
Thanks in large part to the efforts of the clinic staff, Madison County’s COVID-19 vaccination rate ranks No. 2 among Alabama’s 67 counties.
