HUNTSVILLE – Some pediatric patients won’t be home for the holidays, despite their wishes, but they can still receive presents and community donations can help make the holidays brighter for those kids.
Huntsville Hospital, the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and the Huntsville City Football Club have teamed up to sponsor a drive-through toy drive from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Gifts will help ensure pediatric patients at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children can receive a special toy this holiday season.
“This is a great opportunity to shop with your children and family, and bring happiness to sick kids who can’t be at home with their families this Christmas,” Chris Hendley, community events manager for Huntsville Hospital Foundation, said in a statement. “Our HHW&C Child Life team goes above and beyond to spread cheer throughout the hospital halls, and they need your help. “Every toy and donation will make the holidays brighter for these local children.”
Every donation will be given to pediatrics patients – from babies to teenagers – this month and will help stock the hospital’s playrooms to provide distraction and fun for kids while they are hospitalized.
“In this season of giving, we’re excited to help give back with the Huntsville Hospital Toy Drive,” said Chad Emerson, HCFC managing director of business operations. “This event will help kids who can’t be home this year have a happy holiday season. We look forward to seeing everyone come by Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium (Saturday) with donations for the toy drive.”
Toy donations must be new and unwrapped. Top requests include games, craft supplies, puzzles, board books and more. View the hospital’s full toy wish list at www.huntsvillehospitalfoundation.org/ways-to-give/toy-drive.
