GUNTERSVILLE — The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists that the signal recently installed at U.S. 431 and Alabama 79 will become fully operational Thursday.

The signal just north of Guntersville has been in flash mode since last week to alert motorists to its presence.

The signal was installed as part of a $1.3 million project to improve traffic flow and safety by creating a signalized T intersection. The signal will give a constant green indication for southbound U.S. 431, while stopping northbound traffic as needed to allow turns to and from Alabama 79.

The contractor on the project is Wiregrass Construction.
