HUNTSVILLE — To represent its wide selection of programs, the College of Education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville has been renamed the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences.
The name change, effective at the start of the 2025-26 academic year, was proposed and approved at last week’s Alabama System Board of Trustees meeting.
According to college Dean Dr. Beth Quick, the new name more accurately reflects the expertise and range of innovative work conducted by the faculty in a wide array of degree programs. They include applied behavior analysis; sport and fitness management, and child, family and community development.
“The UAH College of Education has been supporting our students in many different disciplines for more than a decade,” Quick said. “As the educational landscape continues to change, we felt it was imperative that we rebrand the college to connect with our vision and strategic plan for the future.”
The College of Education focuses on collaborative, elementary, English Speakers of Other Languages and secondary teacher preparation as well as exercise science and sport and fitness management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, the university said.
More than 400 students are enrolled in the college.
