UAH named No. 6 seed in NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Basketball Championships

HUNTSVILLE — For the fourth time in program history, the UAH women’s basketball team has earned a berth to the NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Basketball Championships.

The Chargers, who fell 58-52 to top-seeded Union in the Truist Gulf South Conference Women’s Basketball Championships finals Sunday, are the No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament with a first-round matchup Friday against No. 3 seed Nova Southeastern.

UAH heads into the South Region tournament with an overall record of 25-6 after reaching the Gulf South Conference tournament final Sunday for the third time in program history. The Chargers’ 25 wins are the most by the program in the NCAA era.

The South Regional field also includes No. 2 seed Embry-Riddle, No. 4 seed Tampa, No. 5 seed Lee, No. 7 seed West Florida and No. 8 seed Miles.

In Sunday’s GSC championship game, Lili Wilken led the Chargers with 22 points. She was named to the GSC All-Tournament Team.

Teammate Alexis Woods, who had a team-high 11 rebounds, was also named to the All-Tournament team.

Millie Brown scored 12 points on four three-pointers Sunday for UAH.
