MONTGOMERY – The University of North Alabama will open its 2024 football season on national television, playing in the 10th annual FCS Kickoff for the second straight year.
The Lions will face Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
ESPN will televise the game, which has been played in Alabama’s state capital since 2017. The game was played on campus locations the first three seasons.
Mercer defeated UNA 17-7 in the 2023 FCS Kickoff.

- Bulldogs open on TV at Auburn
In Auburn, Alabama A&M will open its season Aug. 31 when the Bulldogs visit Jordan-Hare Stadium to kickoff the 2024 football slate. The game will be shown on ESPN+/SECN+. A&M has played Auburn twice on the road, losing both times 51-7 in 2012 and 55-0 in 2016.
Meanwhile, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s season opener against Western Kentucky will be broadcast on ESPN at 6 p.m.
The Sept. 7 slate has California at Auburn (2:30 p.m., ESPN2) and South Florida at Alabama (6 p.m., ESPN).
On Sept. 14, it’s Alabama at Wisconsin (11 a.m., Fox) and New Mexico at Auburn (6:30 p.m., ESPN2 or ESPNU).
- Oddsmaker likes Tide big over Tigers
DraftKings has listed early odds including six Alabama games and five for Auburn, and while the Crimson Tide is favored in four the Tigers are tagged underdogs in all five of theirs.
