Welcome back! Pruitt returns to Plainview High School

RAINSVILLE — Disproving the old adage, “You can’t go home again,” former University of Tennessee head football coach Jeremy Pruitt is back home.

As in Plainview High School – his alma mater.

Pruitt, fired by UT in 2021 over widespread NCAA violations, has been hired as a physical education teacher and junior high basketball coach. Before leaving for the college ranks – he was the defensive backs for Alabama – he was an assistant football coach under his father, Dale Pruitt.

During the early 2000s, he coached at Willis Valley Elementary School and Fort Payne High School.

Last month, it was reported that Pruitt’s wife also joined the school’s staff as a reading/math intervention teacher.

Pruitt was named head coach of the Vols in 2018. He had a career record of 5-19 after eight wins in 2019 and three in 2020 were vacated for NCAA violations.
