A major hip-hop star is set to take the stage in North Alabama as Wiz Khalifa headlines the University of North Alabama’s annual Spring Concert this week.

The show is scheduled for Thursday night at CB&S Bank Arena, bringing one of the school’s most anticipated student events back to campus. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with performances beginning at 7 p.m.

The multi-platinum artist, known for hits like “Black and Yellow,” will cap off a night of live music that also highlights local and student talent. Opening the concert is Bluewire, the winner of UNA’s Battle of the Bands, followed by a performance from Steven G.

University officials say the annual Spring Concert is designed to give students a chance to relax and connect as the semester winds down. Admission is free for UNA students, while general admission tickets are available for $35. You can buy tickets here.

“The Spring Concert is a great opportunity for students to take part in a lively campus tradition in a fun, safe and welcoming environment,” said Matthew Jones, director of Student Activities and Leadership Development. “It’s truly an event created by students, for students.”

The concert is organized by the University Program Council, a student-led group that plans major campus events throughout the year. Organizers announced Khalifa as the 2026 headliner during the university’s “Light the Fountain” celebration earlier this semester, marking the 10th anniversary of the event.

UPC staff member Zane Thompson said bringing a nationally recognized artist to Florence is a highlight for students.

“It always makes me excited when we get a big name in the industry like Wiz Khalifa,” Thompson said. “It gives students a chance to come out, have fun and enjoy something special right here on campus.”

The Spring Concert has become a staple of campus life at UNA, drawing large crowds each year and serving as a centerpiece event for student engagement.

University officials also noted that disability-related accommodations are available for  attendees who may need them, encouraging anyone requiring assistance to contact event organizers ahead of time.

With a mix of national talent and local performers, organizers say this year’s concert aims to deliver a high-energy experience while continuing a tradition that brings the campus community together.
