SCOTTSBORO — Ty Simpson may be Alabama’s second-string quarterback, but he recently signed a deal worthy of some first-teamers.

According to On3.com, Simpson and Scottsboro dealership Harbin Automotive agreed to a multi-year Name, Image, Likeness deal. As part of the agreement, On3 said, Simpson will appear at meet and greets and post on social media for Harbin Automotive. He could be featured in future advertising campaigns, too.

Simpson will receive a new Ford or Chevrolet truck every several months in exchange for his work promoting Harbin, On3 said. To start the partnership, he will be driving a new 2024 Chevy Silverado.

“As fourth-generation business owners, character and integrity have been the building blocks of our 85-year-old family business,” said Win Harbin, owner of Harbin Automotive. “When NIL partnerships became an opportunity, those two things were non-negotiable for us.

“Ty embodies these qualities and more and we are excited to partner with him for the upcoming season and years to come.”

Simpson, a former five-star recruit from Martin, Tenn.,  was taking second-team reps this spring behind Jalen Milroe. The redshirt sophomore completed 60% of his passes for 214 yards in 2023.

“I am just so grateful to everyone at Harbin and truly consider them to be part of my team,” Simpson told On3 in a statement. “I love my truck and am proud to have Harbin as a partner.”
