Florence native Nathaniel White has joined AARP Alabama as the organization’s new associate state director for outreach and advocacy, where he will serve Huntsville and communities across North Alabama.
White will work with residents, community organizations, volunteers and state and local leaders while advancing AARP Alabama’s advocacy priorities affecting older adults and their families.
“Nathaniel brings a unique combination of policy expertise, healthcare advocacy experience, and a passion for public service that will help us expand our impact across North Alabama,” said Candi Williams, AARP Alabama state director. “His commitment to building strong communities and collaborating with stakeholders makes him an outstanding addition to our team.”
White’s professional background spans healthcare policy, legislative advocacy, public affairs and nonprofit advocacy. His work has focused on the intersection of law, healthcare and community engagement, including building relationships with policymakers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
He also previously served as a judicial clerk in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In his new role, White will help build relationships with community partners, engage AARP members and volunteers, and work with elected officials on policies and initiatives intended to improve quality of life for Alabamians as they age.
White earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law and is completing a Master of Healthcare Administration at Northwestern University. A native Alabamian, White said he is looking forward to returning to the region he calls home in a role focused on public service and community engagement.
“I am honored to join the AARP Alabama team and to have the opportunity to work alongside state and community leaders, volunteers, and residents across North Alabama,” White said. “I look forward to helping advance initiatives that strengthen communities and improve quality of life for older adults throughout our state.”
AARP Alabama is part of AARP, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on Americans age 50 and older and their families. The organization advocates on issues including health security, financial stability and quality of life.
