MADISON — New York Times bestselling author, speaker and podcaster Jen Hatmaker will visit Madison next week to celebrate the release of her memoir “Awake.”

The Oct. 21 event, presented by Blue Apple Books in partnership with the Madison Arts Alliance, will feature a VIP meet and greet followed by a conversation with social media personality and author Mary Katherine Backstrom.

Hatmaker’s memoir, which debuted at No. 3 on The New York Times bestseller list, chronicles her personal journey of reinvention following the end of her marriage. Known for her bestselling books “For the Love and Fierce”, “Free”, and “Full of Fire”, Hatmaker has built a national following through her writing, podcast, and advocacy for faith and community.

The event will begin with a VIP reception at Blue Apple Books in downtown Madison, where attendees can enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and receive a signed copy of “Awake.” A keynote address hosted by Mary Katherine Backstrom will follow at Huntsville’s Columbia High School at 300 Explorer Blvd.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Blue Apple Books to welcome Jen Hatmaker to Madison,” said Maxine Retzer with Madison Arts Alliance. “This event not only celebrates storytelling but also supports our mission to champion creativity and community engagement through the arts.”

Madison Arts Alliance works to champion and cultivate the arts in the city of Madison by encouraging community engagement and developing opportunities for artistic expression. Blue Apple Books, located within sister store South and Pine in Historic Downtown Madison, regularly hosts events designed to support local creators and strengthen the arts community.

A portion of ticket proceeds from Hatmaker’s appearance will go toward the Madison Arts Alliance’s efforts to expand access to arts education, performances, and public art opportunities across the city.

Tickets for the VIP Meet & Greet and Keynote Event are on sale now. More information and ticket links are available through Blue Apple Books and the Madison Arts Alliance.
