Packing for palm trees just got easier and cheaper for North Alabama travelers.

Breeze Airways will begin offering nonstop flights from Huntsville International Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport starting June 12, with fares beginning at $39 one way.

The new route will operate twice weekly, with flights on Fridays and Mondays, giving Huntsville travelers a direct connection to South Florida’s beaches, cruise ports and attractions.

Airport officials say the addition reflects continued growth in passenger demand and strengthens Huntsville International Airport’s role as a key regional travel hub.

“The addition of nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale demonstrates the momentum of the Huntsville market and the importance of continued investment in air service,” said Butch Roberts, CEO of Huntsville International Airport. “Our North Alabama travelers will enjoy greater connectivity and convenience to South Florida than ever before.”

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is a popular choice for travelers heading to South Florida, offering close proximity to one of the world’s busiest cruise ports and serving as a less-crowded alternative to Miami International Airport.

Breeze Airways founder and CEO David Neeleman said the new route expands convenient travel options for Huntsville passengers looking to visit Florida.

“Our guests in Huntsville now have another great destination in Florida to visit, making it more convenient than ever to visit the Sunshine State,” Neeleman said. “The greater Fort Lauderdale region has a lot to offer travelers, and we can’t wait to launch this new destination in June.”

Passengers on the new route will fly aboard Breeze’s Airbus A220 aircraft. Breeze was one of the first airlines to launch service in Huntsville when it began operations in 2021 and currently offers nonstop flights from HSV to Las Vegas, Orlando and Tampa.

“Breeze has developed a strong following in the Huntsville market, and this new service to Fort Lauderdale will be especially exciting for our many customers who already enjoy flying with the airline,” said Barbie Peek, chief business development director of Huntsville International Airport. “Adding Fort Lauderdale builds on the airline’s popularity in our region and expands the destinations available to customers who have become loyal Breeze flyers.”
