CDG expands with acquisition of North Carolina engineering firm

ANDALUSIA — Alabama-based CDG has acquired North Carolina-based consulting firm Shield Engineering. CDG is a civil engineering consulting firm with an office in Huntsville.

Mark Pugh, president and CEO of CDG, said the acquisition of Shield is a landmark achievement in the firm’s 76-year history.

“CDG has been a trusted resource in guiding the success of impactful projects for our clients since 1946, and we are constantly seeking opportunities to help driven leaders of thriving businesses, industries and communities build the future,” Pugh said. “This acquisition allows us to combine the resources of CDG and Shield’s project teams to produce tangible signs of progress for our clients.

“We are very excited for the future of the combined firm, its employees, and the people we serve.”

All 35 Shield employees will join CDG’s team of 133 professional, administrative, and technical staff.

Shield President and CEO Robert Griffin he is excited about the merger which will be  advantageous in the firm’s efforts to supply quality, reliable services.

“The acquisition is an exceptional opportunity for all of our employees as well as an opportunity to provide an even higher level of service to clients,” he said. Griffin will continue to serve as the vice president of North Carolina Operations.

The company will continue to serve clients in North Carolina and Tennessee as Shield Engineering until January 2023.
