Clift Farm is putting a new community tradition on the starting line next month.

The mixed-use development will host its inaugural Clift Farm Classic 5K & Fun Run on Sept. 12, inviting runners, walkers and families to take part in a morning of racing and activities at the Village Green.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and will feature a USATF-certified 5K along with a family-friendly 1-mile fun run for participants of varying ages and abilities.

“We wanted to create an event that brings people together and gives our community another reason to spend a Saturday morning at Clift Farm,” said Joey Ceci, president of Breland Companies. “The Clift Farm Classic is about much more than running. It’s about getting outside, having fun with family and friends, supporting our local businesses and creating a new tradition for the city of Madison.”

Participants will receive a custom race shirt and finisher medal, with prizes and giveaways also planned.

Clift Farm restaurants, retailers and service businesses will also get in on the action, with participating businesses offering special promotions and activities surrounding race day.

Organizers said the Classic is intended to become an annual event and another way for residents and visitors to experience the Clift Farm community.

Early packet pickup will be Sept. 11 from 3-6 p.m. at the Village Green. Participants who register by Sept. 1 are guaranteed a race shirt in their selected size.
