Clinton Avenue area near Memorial Parkway to be reworked

HUNTSVILLE – One of the Rocket City’s main downtown arteries is getting a facelift.

The Huntsville City Council passed a resolution at its regular meeting last week to enter into an engineering design contract with Barge Design Solutions for improvements on Clinton Avenue near the Memorial Parkway interchange.

The project will include:

• A plan to repurpose excess pavement along the route
• Landscaping
• Revised striping and drainage on Clinton between Seminole Drive and the Heart of Huntsville Drive/Woodson Street intersection.

The improvements will upgrade the appearance of the roadway with greenway medians on Clinton in spots where the road is wider than necessary. It will also make the area more pedestrian friendly for the Constellation and Mill Creek developments.
