Come on and take a free ride: Cyclists ride free on public transit

(City of Huntsville contributed)

HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville bicyclists are invited to “Try Transit” for free this week as part of  National Bike Month. It comes on the heels of Mayor Tommy Battle’s annual Mayor’s Bike Ride last weekend.

If you have been thinking about pushing yourself to go a little further on your ride but you are worried you will get fatigued – no worries! Even if you get caught in inclement weather, you can hitch a ride on an Orbit shuttle – and its free through Friday.

“All our Orbit shuttles have bike racks, so it’s an ideal way to continue your journey if the elements intervene,” said Quisha Bryant, Huntsville’s director of Parking and Public Transportation. “By giving members of our bicycling community free rides this week, maybe they’ll consider us as an option in the future.”

Orbit shuttles run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
