HUNTSVILLE — Andrew Dollar has been named chief operating officer for the Huntsville Committee of 100, the organization announced. He starts Monday as the organization’s first COO.

“I absolutely could not be more pleased with Andrew coming on board and knowing his professional experience and talents are a perfect fit for the visionary needs of the organization,” John Allen, Committee of 100 CEO, said in a news release. “This is a very exciting time for the Committee of 100 as we enter a bold 2023 year of growth and planning for our future.”

An Alabama native, Dollar brings more than 20 years of executive leadership in public affairs, community development, and strategic partnerships, the release said. He has served under two governors, several systems of higher education, and he’s led regional economic and workforce initiatives.
Most recently, Dollar worked at Athens State University where he led workforce, community, and small business development opportunities throughout Limestone County.
Passionate about engagement and entrepreneurship, he secured nearly half a million dollars in funding to open the University’s first ever collaborative workspace and entrepreneurial hub–the Athens LaunchBox, Allen said in the release.
“Andrew is motivated by a desire for regional collaboration, developing creative economic development and workforce solutions, and helping drive better policy making through data, storytelling and relationship building,” he said.
Dollar holds a bachelor’s degree in English from University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s of public administration from the University of North Carolina, and a doctorate in education from Vanderbilt University.
He and his wife Jessica live in Athens with their son, Jack. Andrew is a lifelong competitive athlete having raced on multiple continents and enjoys the thrill of pushing himself toward extreme endurance goals.
