Duotech Services has opened a new 25,000-square-foot facility in Huntsville as the defense contractor expands its work supporting missile and missile defense systems.
The company’s ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a $4 million investment in the Huntsville community that is expected to create 50 jobs over five years.
The new facility will support Duotech’s work testing, repairing and remanufacturing electronic systems and subsystems used on defense platforms, with a particular focus on missile and missile defense programs.
The tech company specializes in addressing electronic component obsolescence and providing repair and sustainment services for legacy defense systems. Duotech often works in situations where original equipment manufacturers no longer provide aftermarket support or where technical design data is unavailable.
By extending the service life of existing systems, the company says its work can help defense customers reduce downtime, avoid costly replacements and keep mission-critical equipment operational.
“Our expansion into Huntsville marks an important and exciting chapter for Duotech,” said Dan Bader, CEO of Duotech Services. “This investment strengthens our ability to support the nation’s defense mission while creating meaningful, high-quality jobs for the local community.”
Bader said Huntsville’s workforce, infrastructure and longstanding connection to missile and missile defense technology made the city a natural location for the expansion.
The facility adds to Huntsville’s growing defense and aerospace sector, which includes a large concentration of companies supporting missile development, testing, production and sustainment.
“Protecting our national security and growing our nation’s defense capabilities is a critical aspect of our manufacturing sector and Alabama is proud to add Duotech to our bench of industry innovators,” Alabama Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair said.
McNair said the investment will strengthen Alabama’s aerospace and defense industry while adding jobs and economic activity to the state.
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said Duotech’s expansion reflects the city’s continued appeal to companies involved in defense, aerospace and technology.
“As opportunities evolve across the defense, aerospace and technology sectors, companies are choosing Huntsville for the strength of our workforce and a community defined by innovation and collaboration,” Battle said.
Huntsville/Madison County Chamber President and CEO Chip Cherry said the investment demonstrates continued business confidence in the Huntsville market.
“Duotech’s decision to open a new facility in Huntsville highlights the confidence companies have in our market,” Cherry said. “As we continue to grow, new job opportunities and investment have a significant impact on the strength of the entire community.”
Duotech said the Huntsville facility will expand its ability to provide sustainment solutions to defense customers in the United States and among U.S. allies.
