Aerospace and defense manufacturer Redwire Corp. announced Monday that it will significantly expand its Huntsville operations, adding approximately 150 high-skilled jobs as the company grows production of defense and space technologies.
The announcement was made at the Farnborough International Airshow in London, one of the world’s premier aviation and defense industry events.
The expansion will add 164,000 square feet to Redwire’s Huntsville campus, increasing the company’s manufacturing and engineering capacity. Construction has already begun and is expected to be completed by late 2027.
The expanded facility will support production of Redwire’s combat-proven Stalker unmanned aerial systems, Octopus gimbal payloads, advanced energy solutions and space technologies supporting exploration, commercial space activities and national security missions.
Company officials said the expansion will also strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity and critical aerospace and defense supply chains.

Cannito thanked Gov. Kay Ivey, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and state and local officials for supporting the project.

The project is supported by approximately $8.5 million in state and local economic development incentives.
Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair said the investment demonstrates the state’s ability to help advanced manufacturers grow.
“Redwire’s buildout in Huntsville is a testament to the company, its product and its mission,” McNair said. “It also speaks to exactly what the Alabama team is promoting this week in Farnborough – our state’s ability to provide advanced manufacturers the skilled workforce, infrastructure and local support to not only launch their initial operations, but to help them expand with their successes.”
Battle said the expansion reflects the strength of Huntsville’s aerospace and defense sector.

Redwire operates facilities across North America and Europe and employs approximately 1,400 people worldwide. Its Huntsville operation supports both defense and commercial space programs, further strengthening Huntsville’s position as a hub for advanced aerospace manufacturing.
