HUNTSVILLE — A fire that started in a Redstone Arsenal test range Wednesday has been declared 100% contained, Army officials said. There was smoldering overnight but no flare-ups. Crews remain on the scene.

The fire started at approximately 2:40 p.m. in a test area on the south side of the installation. The cause has not yet been determined, the post said in a news release. No injuries have occurred, and no facility structures were in danger.
“Our priority is the safety of Team Redstone,” Garrison Commander Col. Brian Cozine said Wednesday. “We urge all employees to take precautions and avoid the area around Gate 3.”
Redstone Arsenal and community fire departments responded to the wildfire, the news release said. The public was asked to avoid the area of Gate 3 at Redstone Road and Patton Road.
