Wendy Yang has helped visitors connect with the art at the Huntsville Museum of Art. Now, the former docent and docent chair will help guide the museum’s future as chair of its Board of Trustees for 2026-2027.
The museum announced Yang’s new role Oct. 27. Appointed to the board by the Huntsville City Council, she will help guide its governance and strategic priorities, supporting exhibitions, educational opportunities and efforts to connect North Alabama residents with the visual arts.
“I’m honored to serve as chair of the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees,” Yang said. “The museum plays an important role in bringing art and people together, and I look forward to working with the board and museum staff to support its mission and continued impact in Huntsville.”
Yang’s community service extends beyond the museum. She serves on the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra board and is a member of the Stronger Together Fund Grants Committee at the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.
She previously served as vice chair of the Board of Directors for Village of Promise.
Christopher Madkour, executive director of the Huntsville Museum of Art, said Yang brings experience in both the arts and community service to the position.
“Wendy’s longstanding involvement in the arts and her dedication to serving the Huntsville community make her a valuable leader for the museum,” Madkour said. “Her experience with arts organizations and community initiatives will be an asset as we continue to bring people and art together through exhibitions, educational programs and meaningful community engagement.”
Established by the City of Huntsville, the museum is a nonprofit municipal corporation governed by a city-appointed board.
Along with its galleries and exhibitions, the museum offers art classes for children and adults, lectures, musical presentations and special programs. It also provides rental space for weddings, meetings and other events.
