Mazda Toyota Manufacturing is continuing its investment in the North Alabama community, awarding $150,000 in grants to 24 nonprofit organizations serving Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties.

The funding marks the eighth round of community grants distributed by the automotive manufacturer since launching the program in 2022.

Nearly 90 organizations applied for this year’s grants. Finalists were invited to participate in an “MTM Pitch Day,” where representatives had five minutes to present their missions and programs to a committee of Mazda Toyota team members. The committee then determined funding amounts based on the presentations.

“MTM is grateful to be able to give back in a way that offers our community not only support, but new opportunities,” said Mark Brazeal, MTM vice president of administration. “At MTM, we strive to always improve and impact not only our own team, but the community around us, creating a better Alabama.”

The 24 organizations receiving funding include Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center, The Caring Link, National Children’s Advocacy Center, Clinica Medica Moscati, The CARE Center, Academy for Learning and Character Development, Wooley Institute for Spoken-Language Education, Mommy Love Foundation, The Green Gift, Alabama Non-Violent Offenders Organization, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy, Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, Heart of the Valley YMCA, Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama, Enable Madison County, Still Serving Veterans, Ability Plus, Liberty Learning Foundation, Village of Promise, Neighborhood Christian Center of Alabama, Second Mile Development and The Alabama Collective.

Jessica Luther, MTM’s external affairs specialist, said the selected organizations represent a wide range of efforts aimed at improving quality of life throughout the region.

“Every one of these organizations is doing impactful work in our North Alabama community,” Luther said. “We are so grateful to them for making our community a better place for our team members to live and work.”

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing opened in Huntsville in 2021 and has become one of the region’s largest employers. The jointly owned automotive plant has created more than 4,500 jobs and produces the Toyota Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross Hybrid, along with the Mazda CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid.

The company said the grant program is part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the communities where its employees live and work.
