Gardiner Farms in Tuscumbia hosts 26th annual Saddle Up for St. Jude

TUSCUMBIA — Since 1996, Gardiner Farms has welcomed crowds to its 300 acres of riding trails and hosted concerts to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. St. Jude treats pediatric cancer patients, and because of events such as Saddle Up for St. Jude, their families never receive a bill.

According to Gardiner Farms, the event has raised more than $2.5 million over the past 25
years. The trail ride is coordinated by Circle 5 Outfitters and is a fun, family-friendly weekend.

This year’s entertainment features local musicians and country music stars Shenandoah, Darryl Worley, Aaron Tippin, and Sammy Kershaw.

An auction takes place Saturday afternoon, and there will be plenty of concessions to quench a thirst and satisfy hunger all weekend. Pony rides and wagon rides will be available for the younger set.

Drive and Cowboy Church Band get the stage warmed up tonight for Shenandoah, who will perform at 8:30 p.m. On Friday night, Amanda Brewer and April Michelle get the crowd
ready for Darryl Worley, who goes on at 8:30.

Music starts at 11 a.m. Saturday with Josh Brannon Band, followed by KGB. Then kick up
your heels with the Roots & Boots Tour starring Aaron Tippin and Sammy Kershaw at 8 p.m.

Sure, “there ain’t nothin’ wrong with the radio,” but why miss these live shows? Especially when all three nights will cost only $60. If you can only make it today or Friday, tickets are $20. Tickets for Saturday night’s performances cost $40.

Saddle Up coordinator Jimmy King said, “… bring your lawn chair and a thankful heart as we join in our tradition of supporting the best of causes.”

The farm opens at noon today. Primitive camping and trail riding open at 7 a.m. Friday; the trails open 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The Kids Zone opens at 6 p.m. today and Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

All proceeds go to St. Jude. For more information, visit https://saddleup4kids.org.
