HUNTSVILLE — With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Huntsville Animal Services is asking the community to consider fostering “certified turkey tasters” in need of both love and care through the holidays.
Dozens of pups are up to be fostered and adopted at the shelter. The organization said just a few days out of a shelter can mean a lot for a dog. The time together also presents a great opportunity for families to connect with a new possible addition to the family.
“Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, and what better way to show it than by opening your home to a dog in need?” said Animal Services Director John Fischer. “For our dogs, even a few days in a home can make a huge difference by decreasing their anxiety, ultimately increasing their adoptability.”
To become a foster parent, applicants must be 21 years of age or older and provide proof of identification. For renters, landlord approval is required before fostering a pet. An application is available here.

Animal Services is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Animal Services will be closed Nov. 28-29 for Thanksgiving.
