Huntsville Hospital has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care 2026, earning national recognition for its workplace culture and commitment to employee development.
The designation includes Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and Madison Hospital, representing the more than 11,000 employees who provide patient care and support services across the system.
Hospital leaders said the recognition reflects the contributions of employees across every department, from physicians and nurses to environmental services, therapists, food and nutrition staff and patient registration teams.
“This recognition belongs to the people who make Huntsville Hospital what it is,” said Tracy Doughty, president and chief operating officer of Huntsville Hospital. “Our employees come to work every day with a shared commitment to caring for our patients and supporting one another. Their dedication, teamwork and compassion are what define our workplace culture.”
Huntsville Hospital said it continues to invest in its workforce through professional development opportunities, continuing education, leadership training, wellness resources and career advancement programs.
The rankings were developed by Newsweek in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group and are based on an independent evaluation that includes employee feedback, publicly available data and workplace reviews. Organizations were assessed on factors including leadership, compensation, work-life balance, training and career development.
Newsweek Editor-in-Chief Jennifer H. Cunningham said the recognition comes as healthcare organizations continue addressing workforce challenges that intensified following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Founded in 1895, Huntsville Hospital is an 881-bed nonprofit regional referral center serving North Alabama and southern Tennessee. It is the flagship facility of Huntsville Hospital Health System and the second-largest hospital in Alabama.
