Veterans and service members preparing to leave the military will have an opportunity to connect with employers during a career fair next week in Huntsville.

The Huntsville Veterans Career Fair will take place Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Huntsville VA Clinic, 500 Markaview Road NW.

The fair will bring employers from several industries to the clinic, where attendees can ask about job openings, speak with hiring managers and get help with their resumes. Information about education and training programs also will be available.

The event is sponsored by the Huntsville VA Veterans Advisory Board and is open to veterans, transitioning service members and others exploring employment opportunities.

For veterans entering the civilian workforce, the job search can involve finding employers who understand how military experience applies to positions outside the service. The fair will give attendees a chance to discuss their backgrounds directly with hiring managers while learning about available jobs and other career resources.

Those who are still deciding on a career path can also explore training and education options that may help them qualify for different positions.

The Huntsville clinic is part of the Birmingham VA Health Care System and provides outpatient care for veterans in the area. The facility is located in northwest Huntsville, with parking available on site.

Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and be prepared to talk about their work experience, skills and career interests.

The fair is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to noon. Veterans interested in attending can contact the Huntsville VA Clinic or the event’s organizers for additional information about participation and any registration requirements.
