Huntsville’s Bowl Jam features X Games legends and Olympic skateboarders

HUNTSVILLE – Attention thrashers!

It’s almost time to show off your best ollies, kickflips and carves.

Huntsville Parks & Recreation, in collaboration with The Skatepark Project, invites skateboarders and skate enthusiasts – pros, ams and groms – to drop in at the 2025 Bowl Jam.

The free event, set for Oct. 5 from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Get-A-Way Skatepark in John Hunt Park, promises some radical skateboarding from amateur to professional participants from around the nation.

“We are proud to co-host this event each year,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “Bowl Jam is a great way to highlight a unique amenity in John Hunt Park and invite residents and visitors to learn more about the sport.”

Kids looking to upgrade their skills are invited to participate in an all-levels skate clinic at 1 p.m. led by Pro Bowl Jam participants, X Games legends and Olympic skateboarders such as Bucky Lasek, Lizzie Armanto, Bryce Wettstien, Katelyn West and more. Skate giveaways will be available while supplies last.

“I’m excited we are going to have this event for the second year at Huntsville’s Get-A-Way Skatepark,” event organizer Paul Gierow said. “The Bowl Jam will showcase top level skaters. Professional and Olympic athletes will lead the skate clinic featuring free board, helmet and pad giveaways.”

Onsite registration and warmups will begin at 9:30 a.m. The juniors and new riders will skate at 11 a.m. followed by the Pro Bowl Jam at 11:30. Participants will have chances to win cash prizes and more.
