A Huntsville defense technology company is moving one of its innovations into full-scale production under a $10.7 million contract supporting the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

IERUS Technologies Inc. was awarded a $10,712,914 contract to produce 190 Compact Electromagnetic Nondestructive Assessment probes for the F-35 program, according to the Department of Defense.

The electromagnetically hardened probes grew out of earlier Small Business Innovation Research work by IERUS. The Phase III contract marks the transition of the technology from development, testing and validation into full-scale production.

The handheld probes are designed for nondestructive electromagnetic assessment, allowing materials and components to be evaluated without damaging them.

Headquartered in Huntsville, IERUS specializes in electromagnetic technologies, radio frequency and electro-optical/infrared technologies, analytical computing and weapon systems engineering. The company supports defense programs ranging from missile defense and radar to hypersonic technologies.

Under the firm-fixed-price contract, work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be completed in January 2027.

The full $10.7 million will be obligated at the time of the award using Foreign Military Sales customer funds. The contract was awarded without competition under the Small Business Innovation Research program.

Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.
