Huntsville’s Sentar lands spot on Navy contract worth up to $400 million

Huntsville-based cybersecurity company Sentar Inc. is one of 29 companies selected for a U.S. Navy contract supporting operational analysis, systems engineering and advanced technology development.

The Navy awarded the companies a $278 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple-award contract through Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific in San Diego.

The seven-year contract includes a two-year option that, if exercised, would increase its potential value to $400 million.

Sentar, a 100% employee-owned cyber-intelligence and cybersecurity company headquartered in Huntsville, will compete with the other awardees for individual task orders issued under the contract.

The work covers a broad range of support for Navy operations, including operational exercise design, requirements analysis, concept development and feasibility demonstrations.

Contractors may also perform engineering analysis, software and hardware design and implementation, systems integration, testing and evaluation and technical support. The work will include analyzing operational and system requirements used to establish national, theater and force-level architectures.

The Navy said the contractors will use a systems engineering approach to development while incorporating secure DevSecOps practices.

Sentar specializes in cybersecurity, intelligence and analytics, systems engineering and software development for national security customers, including the Navy, Army, Missile Defense Agency and NASA.

The contract was competitively procured, with the Navy receiving 50 offers and selecting 29 companies for awards.

No funding is being obligated with the initial awards. Instead, money will be obligated as individual task orders are issued and competed among the selected contractors.

Work will be performed in San Diego, with the initial period of performance running through Aug. 12, 2031.

Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific is the contracting activity.
