A Huntsville-based defense engineering company has landed a nearly $48 million Navy contract to build mobile maintenance and repair facilities designed for deployment around the world.
Integrated Solutions for Systems Inc., known as IS4S, was awarded a $47,768,691 firm-fixed-price contract for the production of Expeditionary Maintenance and Repair Facilities, or EMRFs.
Under the contract, IS4S will fabricate five fully outfitted facilities consisting of 90 individual Expeditionary Maintenance and Repair Container prototype units, along with four additional outfitted container variants.
The systems will be deployed to a range of environments around the world, where the Navy will use them as data collection platforms to evaluate and validate the EMRF concept.
All work under the contract will be performed in Huntsville and is expected to be completed by September 2027.
The Navy is obligating the full $47.8 million at the time of the award using fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funding.
The contract was awarded on a sole-source basis through the federal Small Business Innovation Research Phase III program. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center in Norfolk, Virginia, is the contracting activity.
Founded in 2008, IS4S is a 100% employee-owned defense engineering and technology company headquartered in Huntsville’s Cummings Research Park. The defense company has grown to more than 400 employee-owners with operations across the country.
Its work spans assured position, navigation and timing technologies, energetics and munitions, autonomous systems and expeditionary systems. The company’s Huntsville operation includes the design and manufacturing of customized tactical container systems, including mobile laboratories and power and water generation facilities.
The latest Navy award adds to IS4S’s growing defense manufacturing work while keeping the entirety of the $47.8 million contract’s production in Huntsville.
