Huntsville-based Torch Technologies has been awarded a nearly $1 billion U.S. Air Force contract supporting aerospace research, development, testing and evaluation.

The $992.35 million cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract calls for Torch to provide technical and management advisory services supporting Air Force aerospace research, development, test and evaluation activities.

The work will primarily be performed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, with additional support from geographically separate locations. The contract runs through Sept. 30, 2031.

No funding was obligated at the time of the award, according to the Department of Defense. The Air Force Test Center at Eglin is the contracting activity.

The contract was awarded Aug. 10.

Headquartered in South Huntsville, Torch Technologies is a 100% employee-owned defense contractor founded in 2002. The company provides research, development and engineering, modeling and simulation, software and hardware development and other technical services to customers across the Department of Defense.

Torch’s work also includes missile defense, aerospace engineering, testing and evaluation, prototyping and emerging technologies.

The company has grown from its Huntsville roots into a defense contractor with more than 1,000 employees and operations supporting military customers across the country.

The latest award adds another major Air Force contract to North Alabama’s defense portfolio during a week when thousands of military, government and industry leaders are gathered in Huntsville for the annual Space and Missile Defense Symposium.
